For the past week, I’ve clicked on this link multiple times reading the kind words people have said about Deji…I just still can’t believe this is real. Deji was someone I called my cousin whenever I talked about him. Just because we weren’t blood relatives didn’t mean the bond wasn’t there. From all the group chats we grew up in together, seeing each othergrow in real life every new week at church, I am forever grateful for such an opportunity with a special person that was dear to me. Thank you for still checking up on me and wishing me happy birthday all the way from Michigan while I’ve been in North Carolina for school. You were such an important person in my childhood and young adulthood, I will never forget you. Thank you for being you at all times: funny, helpful, kind, and more. I love you forever and always Olobro. Rest in eternal peace.

Deji,
There are many things in this world that we’ll never fully understand; this is one of them. I met you my junior year of college, and over the next two years, you became a good friend I could always count on to stop and say hello, no matter where you were or who you were with. I don’t think people realize how important that is in making someone feel like they belong, but you did. When I think about college, you are a big part of my memories, whether it was my experience with you personally or simply your name being mentioned in conversation. Those memories are now the thing that will help the people who love you get by until they see you again. May God’s peace and love be with your family, knowing that you now rest with Him. ️

Dear Deji, we will miss you. We fondly remember your beautiful smile, bubbly personality and respectful demeanor. You always stood out in a good way in the Winners’ Chapel Teens Church. Thank God for the gift of your short but impactful your life. May the Lord comfort and strengthen your parents, sisters and entire family. Rest in peace and in the presence of the Lord ️.

Deji and I used to be friends in Elementary school. The one fond memory I have, is the one day in class, he keeps repeating the song lyrics to, “John The Fisherman” by Primus. I didn’t know the band until I got into them in Highschool, but when I did, that same memory popped into my head. Had a great laugh I still remember, and was always a very sweet person.

Olobro, Dolla Dej, the Egusi Enterprises Founder, and any other nickname you came up with that we all refused to call you. We were all adamant about calling you Deji, meaning double joy, because that’s exactly what you were. Thank you for lighting up every room with your smile and jokes. There are genuinely no memories I have of you that don’t involve laughter. Thank you for being a second brother to me. I am so blessed to have known you the way I did. You were always so supportive of everyone and their endeavors no matter what. Your kind is so rare. You are forever loved. Rest in beautiful peace. Love you forever.

Deji, we may not have been particularly close, but the few times we interacted, you always showed kindness and made everyone around you smile. You were like a ray of light, and it saddens me greatly to have to write this message today. I pray that your beautiful soul is resting in peace with the Lord, and that God gives comfort and strength to your family during this difficult time.

Deji, I am still in shock about what has happened. Ever since we were in the same Kindergarten class at Conner Creek I knew we would be brothers for life. The rides to and from school were always fun. I remember being so sad that I left for another school because I was leaving one of my best buds. You radiated every room you stepped in and was a light to the world. Always bringing people together and making people laugh by being our local comedian. We always talked about everything whether it was sports, fashion, school etc. Love you and Im gonna miss you brother.

Deji today we said goodbye to you for the last time and it was more difficult than I could have imagined. You were like a son to me and I hope you know how much we all loved you. Thank you for being a part of our family for so long, always there for Brooklyn as her best friend, having Ryan’s back and keeping an eye on Kyla at CMU. I knew that if I ever needed anything you would be there with an “I got you”. Please know your spirit will always be alive in our house, our minds and our hearts. We will never forget you!
Until we say Hello again and I see your smile and hear thatinfectious laugh,
Deji “I GOT YOU”
Love you always

There are many wonderful ways to describe this man. Deji was the life of the room, there was never a dull moment with him, and he made everything a fun time. Opportunistic is one of the ways I describe him as he capitalized on every opportunity there was to live life to its fullest. It was an honor and a blessing to be able to know him for so long and be close to him as a dead friend. He impacted everyone’s lives in tremendously positive ways and never failed to put smiles on everyone’s face. Deji you were a true blessing to us all, and we all love and miss you dearly. Until we meet again my friend, fly high and rest in peace❤️✝️

Miss my dawg everyday.Still feel like it’s not real honestly.I’m still sick about it.Been heavy on my mind a lot, dealing with a lot of stress, but I smile when I think about the memories we had.I’m even more mad that I never used to take pictures so I don’t have any to post of us.But I miss u, and until we meet again.

Deji… where do I start. We met the first day of moving into CMU and we connected from the start, despite us being so different. You were always a man on a mission and never failed to make others around you smile. Fly high brother, you will not be forgotten. Love, Jarrett❤️

His Life

April 8

by Victoria Olojo

Ayodeji Olamilekan Olojo, son of Olakunle and Yetunde Olojo (née Lano), was born on August 25, 2001 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Ayodeji attended Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School, Richards Middle School, Fraser High School, and Central Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting and finance in 2023. While completing his undergraduate degree, Ayodeji successfully completed two internships with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where he made a positive impression. He had a passion for capital markets and finance.

Given his love and passion for education, Ayodeji returned to Central Michigan University to pursue a master's degree in Business Administration. He was completing coursework at the time of his passing and was on track to graduate in the fall of 2024. Ayodeji also received an employment offer with PwC and was expected to start in September of 2024 as an Audit Associate. He was studying to become a Certified Public Accountant and was determined to meet this goal before the end of this year.

Ayodeji was also the owner and sole proprietor of Olamilekan, LLC, a clothing line that was scheduled to officially launch in April. His clothing line was to be featured during Central Michigan University's Fashion Week this past weekend (Saturday, April 6, 2024).

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Ayodeji. He loved fashion and cars. He especially loved traveling the world with his parents and older sisters, Oluwatosin and Victoria Oreoluwa. Ayodeji also maintained healthy relationships and stayed in touch with the youth members of his church, RCCG Winners' Chapel in Detroit, Michigan.

Ayodeji was excelling and doing great things before his passing on April 3, 2024. Even though he passed away at the young age of 22, he accomplished more than many in his lifetime. He dared to dream, pursued his dreams, and was on the road to accomplishing many of them even in death.

Ayodeji would want his family, friends, and classmates to continue pursuing their goals and ambitions while keeping Christ Jesus at the center of it all. May the memory of Ayodeji Olamilekan Olojo's achievements, brilliance, and mark on the world be remembered today and always -- Amen.

The sweetest boy, I’ll never forget you

April 9

by Kate Castillenti

From the day I met Deji he was a ray of sunshine, so down to earth and kind, also hilarious, someone you could have an amazing conversation with, ask advice or opinions.

I’ll always remember him being my neighbor, someone I could trust, a confidant, someone who would always look out for me, from when I was home and when I wasout and about, he was like this with all of his friends. Someone who always cared.

I wish we could share music with each other one last time, and I wish I couldsee you from across the room, holler your name for everyone to hear and run to give you a hug.

When you are chosen to welcome and be with god at such a young age, we have all gained an angel we didn’t expect to yet, I try to find peace knowing he is at peace, the one thing we can all be guaranteed, peace on the other side.

All of my love goes to Deji’s family, friends, and my friends who shared memories with this sweet boy. Forever in our hearts ❤️
