Slow Cooker Strawberry Rhubarb Moonshine

This type of drink is best when stored for 30 days in a cool dry place. The alcohol takes on more of the fruit taste. BUT, you can also enjoy it immediately. I originally did not strain out the rhubarb pieces but if I do this again, I definitely will.

Are you actually sealing the jars like canning or just putting the lids on and storing?

Great question Jill! You are just putting the lids on for storing. This is not a canning recipe as the alcohol will evaporate while going through the canning process. However, this has a long shelf life due to the high alcohol content.

Would you strain out the rhubarb pieces before putting them in the jars and letting sit for 30 days or after?

Can you leave out the rhubarb completely? I’d prefer to just have make it as a strawberry moonshine.

Hi Joan, I am not sure if you can add water to cut the alcohol amount. The alcohol is acting as a preservative in this recipe to give it a longer shelf life. You could always make the recipe as is and cut the moonshine with water (or soda) before drinking/serving.
